Easy 6 with Ryan, Guppy, and Sami on the Provo river trail up Provo canyon. Then we ice bathed in the river and made grilled cheese and played a little ping pong at Ryan's house. Twas a good time.

Incredibly rough day today... We had a speed workout, 2x(200,800,400,200,200,200) 200's at 800 pace, 800 at 2-mile pace, and 400 at mile pace. I started out great the first set, but the second 800 my windpipe closed up real bad and I straight up couldn't breathe. I died hard. Kinda scary stuff. Finished up on the bikes and used my brothers inhaler tonight.

Easy 6 @7:47 ap. Two miles on the grass at the cemetery and 2 150m buildups to shake out the legs. They're still pretty heavy, so I rolled out and ice bathed. I'm hoping I feel good for byu...

Did a couple miles at a time at the byu meet, and then premeet back at the school. 2x200m, 29 and 28. My legs actually feel good and responsive today, so that was freaking fantastic! I think I know why, and bare with me here.

I've been going to a psychologist for the past couple months to kinda get in a better mindset for racing and just life in general, and I went again yesterday, and the lady asked how my legs felt and I was like, pretty tired, but it's fine. Then she was like well take the next minute or so and pay attention to your legs and see what they have to tell you. And I was like what the heck? Listen to my legs? Lol so I concentrated real hard and the more I "listened" to my legs the less tired they felt. Then she was like what did you notice? Then I said that I should probably wear compression tomorrow and they actually feel better, but my quads still feel pretty spent. Then she told me to concentrate and think about them. So I did, and I kid you not. They started feeling fresh. Like what on earth is happening. So.... Listen up kids, your mind can do incredible things. Freaking listen to your body.

800m at BYU today, the goal was to qualify for state. I got way too nervous before the race, probably because I didn't have my earphones so I couldn't listen to the usual relaxing music... Race started, I got boxed in the whole first lap and I would had to go to lane 3 to pass. That lap was a 60. I tried my best to make it up in the second lap but because the first lap was that slow I couldn't really make it up. I had too much energy after I finished. It was all that first lap. Freaking mad about the time, but it is what it is and looks like I'm going to have to make state in both the mile and 800 at region. Crunch time.

Premeet for the mile, 2x400m. I hit 64 and 63, and my legs feel good. I just need to get in the right mindset and not be focused on any outcome. Yes, I have goals, but I need to focus on the moment in the race to do what I can control, and not worry about anything else. I know I am capable of getting state in the mile and 800 tomorrow, I just need to be there mentally in order to do it. Shoutout to those who raced today, whether it was a good race or not, and whether it was an end to the season or not, you're out there doing it, and giving it all you got. That's something to be proud of.

Region today. I did the mile first, so I'll start there. I warmed up, and got ready to go. I was seeded 6th behind Justin, Jamison, Adam Wood, Adam Jensen, and Thom. We went out and Thom was leading, took us through in 65. Idk what the rest of my splits were. I just tried to hang on to the lead pack for the next two laps then kill it the last lap. The last lap I kicked it in and had a very strong finish, I wish I knew for sure what that split was. I finished third behind Jamison and Justin with a 7 second altitude PR (4:22.44), also beating my time from arcadia so that was sick. Also I didn't have any salt today because I ran out of lemonade drink mix and no way am I drinking straight salt water, so recovering from the mile was freaking rough, I wanted to die for a good 20 minutes. It was miserable. Threw up a couple times. Then I dragged myself out of my pitiful state of existence to attempt to qualify in the 800m. Led the first lap in 58, and tried my best to hold it, but died hardcore. Finish time was 2:03.21. After I crossed the finish line I could barely keep my eyes open, I straight up almost passed out. Jamie and Caleb had to practically carry me away. Gotta stay on top of that salt intake. But all in all I'm way happy with qualifying for state in the mile, that eases a lot of worries. Shoutout to everyone who raced today, y'all killed it!

Update: My splits were 64,67,68,62.

Speed in the morning with Connor, 3x(400m @mile pace, 100m jog, 200m "kick", 4 min rest) splits were 68,29,63,28,62,28. The 400s were a little rough pacing wise but it was a good workout and shoutout to Connor for doing it with me. Shoutout to Zack and Tyler for joining us up the canyon tonight for quite the adventure.

State. I warmed up a mile, and got ready to race the mile. I wasn't super nervous, so that was good. I started out, and went straight to the back after the first curve, so I could stay on the inside. The pack was huge and never really split up very much... splits were 66,66,65,66. All with various decimals. Anyway, I hung out in the back the first 2 laps, then surged a lot and passed most of the pack right before starting the third lap, and tried to pick it up from there. The last lap I would've had to run a 62 to go under 4:20, which I am more than capable of, but my kick simply wasn't there today. Like my legs wouldn't go much faster, idk what was up. Oh well, it was a decent time I guess.

Then I did the 800 in the medley, and Dylan got me the baton in first place, so that was dope. I just threw down and won my heat (prelims) and it was a grand ol time. Idk what my split was though... but it felt good.

Got to the RB mile right before it was supposed to start so I'm glad I made it! I was not expecting a super thrilling drinking time, seeing as I haven't had soda in a long while... so we started and drinking was freaking rough. Got the first can down, and took off. Second can I got down, with some major burpage in the process. Third can same story. The last can I couldn't do it, I ended up throwing up most of my root beer and finishing the can after that. Prolly dropped like a 62 on that last lap lol. I was cruising. Next year I want to do a lot better, I can run with the soda in my stomach no problem, I was hauling. But the drinking is what ruined my time. Lol I'll work on that. Shoutout to everyone who ran it, and I guess everyone who came to watch too, it was a good time.
