I did some sweet exploring this morning, through trails and forests and standing water and it was an adventure. I took it as recovery because I'm tired from yesterday, but it still ended up being 7:00 average pace. It's interesting how the body adapts so quickly

6 in the am on the treadmill, haha I haven't done that much on a treadmill in ages. It was mighty boring, so I tried to practice meditating, because I've been doing that, and haha it was interesting. I was able to meditate for the first 2 miles (which flew by) then my mind kinda fell apart. Felt better than yesterday though and that's the longest I've been able to meditate unguided so I'll take it lol.

PS I totally sound like a hippy 😂

8 miles on a trail by a canal. It was super beautiful, haha and I came across a family of ducks and as I tried to run past them the daddy duck hissed at me and started going at me so I backed off. Haha I made it past them and in my way back I had the same problem with that stupid duck! He wanted to attack me! Dang ducks need to calm down.

8 miles in the morning, I was so dead! Probably dehydrated. Actually definitely dehydrated so I'll work on that. Haha anyway my original plan was to run along a pretty big road and find a path to the state park on the other side of dense shrubbery by the road. I started down the road and it was like timp highway but with no shoulder. So I went the other way, got pinned again, and resorted back to my original plan. Haha I probably almost died a lot but it was a good time. Found my way into the state park and got on some sweet trails. I did some loops in there and went back to the hotel.

We're coming home today so that's a win!

7 miles today, and I slept in until 9:45 because I was up so late so that's kind of a win but not really? But kind of? Lol anyway, I went faster today because my coach wants all my runs to be at 6:30 or faster by early-mid July, so that's just grand. I averaged 6:33, and I felt better than I have in a long time. Haha I seriously need to work on getting more sleep though. Good times.

Top of Zion relay leg 1. I got going, and the whole thing was a gradual downhill so I was excited to see what I could do. Splits were 5:23,5:48,5:56,6:23,6:44 and 6:13 pace for the last bit. I just felt terrible... It was so forced the whole time and it was so hot. I'm trying to draw positives because that's a good thing to do but nothing but negatives are showing up. I was completely spent at the end

Top of Zion leg 2. I was really tired before I even started this one. I had Gill drop me off early so I could prepare mentally because I was already hurting. I made sure to drink a lot and eat a lot in between legs. I got going, and it was just a constant wall the whole time. The leg was 7 miles on a steady (very very gradual, barely noticeable) uphill. I only made it 4 miles. Splits were 7:06,7:35,8:18,10:10.

After the first mile I kept hearing cars come up behind me and I would look back and nothing was there. Not a soul. That happened a lot. I met my van at 2 miles and they soaked me and gave me some water which was good. Then I was really in for it. About a half mile after that I stopped sweating (still 80-90 degrees ish) and my mouth was completely dry. I forced myself to keep running because I kept telling myself I wasn't a wimp. I was strong. I would not give up. I walked a couple times and I was so out of breath. I ended up just praying that the van would be there with more water. I was weaving back and forth, still hearing cars yet the road was empty. I would feel my mind start to slip and I would force it back into focus. It got harder as time went on.

I saw the van driving back (probably because they noticed I was taking a lot longer than usual) and as soon as they tried to help I collapsed. I know it sounds dramatic and I hate it too but that's what happened. My legs would not move. They were jelly. Parker and Gill helped me into the car and Michael got out and finished my leg. Over the next 3 hours I was in and out of sanity and in a heck of a lot of pain. Kaylee and Guppy have training for this stuff so they were helping me. I don't remember much. Just that when I finally came to it was about 8:30. They picked me up at 5:30-6:00. I vividly remember the run, and the distinct feeling in the van that I just didn't need to breathe. I just didn't breathe for a while because it was too much work and Kaylee would shake me and tell me to breathe. I'm so grateful Kaylee and Guppy helped me.

Michael, Austin, and Kobe gave me a priesthood blessing and apparently I got progressively better after that. I'm so grateful for them.

My third leg was cancelled because of smoke but I felt so bad for not completing my second leg. I was fighting so hard. My body just shut down. I don't know why. I prepared the best I could. I did my best to support the team

I'm writing this in such detail so I can remember it and hopefully learn something from it in order to avoid this in the future.

Huge shoutout to Gill for putting together our team and to the team for working so hard and being so amazing. Lol also shoutout to anybody who actually read this whole thing

8 this morning, I took it really easy because of what happened last weekend. I stopped every 2 miles to get a drink and cool down because it was pretty hot. I slept in to recover as much as possible but that also means it was hot when I was running. I survived so that's a win.

6 miles with Joe on the trails, we technically have a speed workout this week but I started training a week late so I think I'll do it next week, depending on what coach says. So I warmed up with Joe, massaged my quad while he did hill repeats, and cooled down with him. Mileage is a little low but I need the rest so I'll probably just do 9 tomorrow, 8 Thursday, 7 Friday, and 12 Saturday for my long run. My legs are tired but I feel better than I did yesterday, and Joe said something interesting. "If you feel good on recovery days then you're not working hard enough," Couldn't agree more!

6 this morning up on the timp road with Joe and Zack after camping up there. I couldn't find my sleeping bag so I kinda froze to death but joe let me borrow his down jacket because he had a sleeping bag. He's a saint. I felt terrible because of lack of sleep so I went home and took a nap and I'll do 3 more after work. On the way down the trail at one point we got going sub-4 pace and we were FLYING!!! Haha it was fun but I'm so so so tired.
