We had the highland invite today, and I have very mixed feelings about how I did. We warmed up 1 mile, then started the race. The first mile was 5:27, but a guy off to the side said it was a 5:05... He was very wrong. When I heard 5:05, I was a little scared because I thought I had gone out way too fast, and I didn't find it till after the race that it was actually 5:27. The second mile was 5:44, and the last .9 was at that same pace. After I crossed the finish line I was in a very odd state. I dry heaved multiple time, could barely keep my balance, and was in a pretty high amount of overall pain/discomfort. Obviously this is to be expected after a race, I just need to get used to it again. Our team (varsity) finished 3rd which was kinda dumb because it was timp, and we should've crushed them. All in all, it was a decent first race, but I have a ton to improve on as the season progresses. When we got back we went to the SOLW and scared the heck out of Sami, Bridge, Jaden, and Mickinley because it was dark and they were already in there. They pretty much thought they were going to die. Shout out to my boys who raced varsity with me today, you guys killed it. |
