Slow Down For What Running Blog at FastRunningBlog.Com Sun, 26 Mar 2017 12:45:22 FeedCreator 1.7.2 Sat, Mar 25, 2017 I did 3 before work with my dad, I haven't run with him in forever so that was kinda cool. After work I did 4 in AF. Felt stressed about things so I pushed a little harder than I probably should have. Sat, 25 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Fri, Mar 24, 2017
Warmed up, then raced the 800. Usually I'm pretty conservative right off the line, but it was cramped so I figured I should get out as hard as possible. I still got elbowed and sucked into the pack, where we went out waayyy too slow. On the back stretch I saw an opening and moved out to lane 4 and surged to the front, and hauled for the next 200, even though my first lap was still only a 60-61. Chris then passed me and my legs/lungs/body started to catch up to me. I'm making some progress, but it's slow. I can honestly say I gave everything I had so I'm proud of it but I'm hungry for faster times. It's a long road back.
Fri, 24 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Mar 23, 2017 Warmup, then premeet. 2x200m at goal pace for tomorrow. 29 and 29 and starts. Windy and cold. I did 4.5 on the treadmill inside to protect my lungs as much as possible. Excited to throw down tomorrow! Birthday shoutout to Gan and big shoutout to Michael and Austin for getting their mission calls! Michael to Paraguay and Austin to Spain! Thu, 23 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Wed, Mar 22, 2017 Recovery today, I did 2 miles and abs before practice so I could get to work on time. My legs were just really tired. Hopefully they feel better tomorrow. Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Mar 21, 2017 Long recovery, my legs were pretty heavy from yesterday but that's to be expected. I'm excited for Friday! Tue, 21 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Mar 20, 2017 Speed today, and I actually am feeling much better than I have been so that's a win. The workout was 2x400m, 3x200, 4x100m, all at 800 pace. Splits were 59,59,28,31,30,14, then I lost my lunch and couldn't breathe so I pulled out. BUT everything I did my legs responded well to, unlike the last 23483945738476 workouts. Mon, 20 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Sat, Mar 18, 2017 6 miles alone this morning, I'm starting to feel ever so slightly better. My lungs were the source of the problem, and I got that diagnosed and a treatment plan underway. Shoutout to doctors everywhere. Sat, 18 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Fri, Mar 17, 2017 Fri, 17 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Mar 16, 2017 Thu, 16 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Wed, Mar 15, 2017 Went 2 miles so I could live it up lol. I did it outside on the track and infield so I could be with the team. Good times. Wed, 15 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Mar 14, 2017 On the treadmill Tue, 14 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Mar 13, 2017 Update on Saturday: I had a heart attack during that 5k, that's why my heart was hurting and my arm went numb. I should've gone to the ER (doctor got mad about that today) but I just walked it off and went to work, where I felt like I got hit by a train the rest of the day. I'm getting some tests done and going to the hospital on Thursday to figure out what's going on. On the bright side, I now have an answer as to why I've been doing not so good lately. More to come on Thursday. Mon, 13 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Sat, Mar 11, 2017
What. A. Day. I went to the school at 7 to warm up on the bikes and do the workout on my own because I had to be at a 5k in Provo at 9. The workout was 20x400m. First 5 at 5k pace, second 5 at 2-mile pace, third 5 at mile pace, and last 5 at whatever you have left. Splits were 76,76,76,74,78,72,71,72,72,72,67,69,69,69,69,68,68,70,69,67. Very difficult on my own and the last couple sets weren't near as good as they were last year. I was dying. Anyway, I went to the 5k and just did it at a super easy pace as a cooldown. Halfway through I had to stop and walk because my left chest, shoulder, and arm was aching and going numb.
Sat, 11 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Fri, Mar 10, 2017 Whistle hills today, Jamie said they would last anywhere from 10-30 seconds and we would do between 1 and 20 of them. Definitely braced myself for 20 and that helped a lot. Finally a workout I can be proud of, I was able to focus on the task at hand (because I didn't know when it was going to end lol) so I was able to have the right mindset. Definitely going to work more on that. We ended up doing 10 of them Fri, 10 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Thu, Mar 09, 2017 Cross train day. 10 min warm-up, 30 min with hr around 133, 5 min cooldown. Super easy recovery. Getting excited for tomorrow and Saturday, we've got some hard workouts coming Thu, 09 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Mar 08, 2017 Wed, 08 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Mar 07, 2017
Recovery in immigration canyon. Excited for tomorrow, everyone is required to do a 4x400m and either the 800 or mile. I'm doing the mile so that should be fun.
Tue, 07 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Mar 06, 2017
The workout today didn't really work out. ;) it was 5x500m @ goal 800 pace. Aka painfest. We were supposed to record our 400 splits. 58, 65, then I finished on the bike because the cold air was not making my lungs happy. Not a very good day but that's alright. I'll keep fighting.
Mon, 06 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Sat, Mar 04, 2017 I ran alone today so I could get to work on time. Legs felt like crap and I couldn't really breath. HR never went under 160 even though I wasn't going very fast. I paused to lay in the grass halfway through, that was nice. Definitely not the best day. Sat, 04 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Fri, Mar 03, 2017 Took a cross train day in preparation for next week Fri, 03 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Thu, Mar 02, 2017 6 alone during lunch and 4th Thu, 02 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Wed, Mar 01, 2017 7 easy with a circuit workout the last 2 miles with body weight exercises. Good stuff. Wed, 01 Mar 2017 07:00:00 Tue, Feb 28, 2017 7 today, nothing super special about it. Normal recovery, just bringing my focus back to why I love running in the first place :) Tue, 28 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Mon, Feb 27, 2017 Speed today. 6x400m at outdoor mile pace with 3 min active rest between each one. Splits were 63,63,64,68,73, then I pulled out. Asthma got bad and I couldn't catch my breath even within that massive rest. Straight couldn't breath. This is frustrating because I went into this workout so strong mentally and ready to grind despite the weather. Oh well. I'll do my best to help my lungs heal and hope for more cooperation next time. Mon, 27 Feb 2017 07:00:00 Sat, Feb 25, 2017
70 min. Saturday. We met at the Hinckley's and got going. It was just a normal run with semi-dead legs and a low temperature. French toast after so that was fantastic and shoutout to Mama Hinckley.
Sat, 25 Feb 2017 07:00:00
