I ran the 800 today, and got 2:03. I was originally planning on going sub-2:00, but that didn't happen. I was seated 2nd in my heat, but the 1st guy didn't show up, so I was on the inside. The start was staggered, so after the first 100, everyone collapsed on me and I got tripped up quite a bit, boxed in, and cut off. I ended up in the back on the back stretch just so I could try and go around everyone. I started gaining ground and was forced into lane 3 on the home stretch to try and pass the main group. I was building speed the entire second lap, but didn't shift gears until 75m left. I should have done it earlier. It was a solid race, but I was perfectly capable of going sub-2 had I been more aggresive and more aware of my position in relation to everyone else in my heat. Now I have something to focus on for region!
Shoutout to my boys Connor, Sean, and Thom for all going sub-4:30 in the mile, and Connor for qualifying for state with 4:23!
