My 800 today went much better than the one at Davis. I started out conservatively so I wouldn't die the second lap, and it worked. My first 400 was a 64. Starting the second lap I picked it up a little bit and passed 2 guys, gave it my all the last 300 and finished out with a 2:09 and 3rd place. Shout out to the AF dude that won and went under 2:00!

I raced the mile today, and got 4:49. My first 2 laps felt good, and were around 70 and 71. On the back stretch of the second lap I gave a little surge and tried to pass some guys, but the whole heat was group pretty tightly and to pass anybody I would have had to take the lead. I didn't want to take the lead that early, but I should have. The next 2 laps were pretty rough and it seemed like my kick just wasn't there. I'll race again next week and hopefully have some sort of a kick and go under 4:40. Shout out to my boys running in St. George today! Go kill it!

Speed workout today, 6x400 at mile pace with 2.5 minutes rest, and 4x200 at 800 pace with 1 minute rest. The 400s were hard, but I surprised myself because I was able to actually hit my paces! On the 200s I was able to give a little more effort and go under 30 sec on one of them, and it felt great! I'm glad I could get a solid speed workout in before the meet this weekend!

My race today was hard to say the least. First lap, I felt good and came in at a 70. Second lap, I surged on the back stretch, but the pace became really difficult to maintain and those guys I had just passed with my surge passed me again. At this point my body was pretty wrecked and I was just holding on for dear life. Third lap, pretty much the same thing as the second lap, I was not feeling good. Fourth lap, my legs felt like lead but I managed to sprint the last 75 meters and pass a couple guys. The race did not go how I would have liked, my legs were just extremely unusually fatigued. Then I realized that I have only really been eating 2.5 meals or less every day for the passed week, so I will work on that going into next week and the multitude of speed workouts planned. Shout out to Connor who went under 4:30 today, state qualifying is within reach man!

I got in a quality speed workout today, 6 x 1:00 sprints up airport hill. I was only able to do five of them though, due to my lower mileage. I was able to stay pretty consistently in the top third of the group, right around Strrt and Matt. Of course it hurt pretty bad, but I am super glad that I am able to start doing these quality workouts again!

Nice distance run in the freaking snow today, what's with this?! We got more snow in one day in the middle of April than we did in the entire winter. That's kinda jacked up. Anyway, my run felt good, and my average pace was 7:09. I got some multivitamins and started taking those because to put it lightly I have been wrecked to the extreme the past couple weeks, so I thought I'd try something to fix it. I must have been low in something, because holy crap my life has changed! I had to force myself to keep slowing down today, when a couple days ago I could barely keep a 7:30. I'm looking forward to the Utah County invite this weekend! Shout out to sophomore Shaquille Walker from BYU for running a 1:45.78 800m, the fastest time in the nation and a new school record for BYU!

Sick race today, I felt so freaking good it was unreal. Note to self; always give your body what it needs to recover. 2:02 in the 800 today. Also somehow I managed to negative split, 62 then a 60. The first lap was nice, I got a little boxed in at the start, but who doesn't? On the back stretch I picked it up a little bit and passed most of the guys, and stuck with the leaders. The first 200m was 29 or right around 30, so that's cool, but I got stuck in lane 2 coming around the bend. On the home stretch, I passed more guys and got into 3rd place. On the back stretch of the second lap I passed another guy and was gaining on the leader at the 200m mark, but he really turned it on and kinda flew away. I picked it up as well and stayed in second through the finish. I felt great with a 5 second pr! Shout out to Kobe for letting me borrow his shades during my race, Connor for officially qualifying for state in the 3200 by 2 seconds, and Brady for finally getting a sick 3200 in the books!

We had one heck of a speed workout today. 3 sets of 4 400s, all of which were hecka fast. the first set was supposed to be current mile pace, second set a little faster, and third set even faster. The first set I hit 70, 68, 70, and another 70. The second set was 68, 68, 69, and another 68. The last set was 67, 66, 65, and 65. I was very pleased with how this workout turned out because going into it, my legs didn't feel completely fresh, but I was still able to hit my paces for the most part, and mostly stick with the group. I believe this is now officially added to the list of favorite workouts, right up there with 20x400, and 18x300. I would also like to mention that I don't know how today would have gone if Strrt wasn't there to push me. We kind of teamed up on the majority of those 400s, and having someone right there really does help quite a bit. So shoutout to Strrt for being a bro!

Today's run was a nice easy 6 miles, my legs were pretty darn wrecked from yesterday's workout and not going to bed until 12:45 due to homework. I'm glad I got the mileage in though and it was nice to have an easy paced day! Good luck to all my teammates racing today against PG, go kill it!

Also good luck to the members of team pre who decided to try their luck in the 4x100 in their trainers. Don't drop the baton!

Not exactly what I hoped for in the mile today. I was going to try and qualify for state, and the first lap was on pace. Then some guys passed me, and they passed me pretty quick, and I just panicked. I didn't handle the situation well at all. I'm pretty sure I physically could have qualified, but I was not there mentally.

Shout out to Maddy for breaking the school record in the 800, she got 2:16, and then had to run the 800 in the medley right after. She killed it!

Speed workout today, 200m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 200m. Two sets of that. Everything but the 800 was supposed to be at mile pace, and the 800s were 2-mile pace. My legs felt tired, due to my inadequate sleep last night, I'll get on top of that so I can do well at BYU thus weekend! Shoutout to everyone who competed at the tri-meet today!

I spent the day at BYU today, Sean and I ended up doing premeet on a stretch of road because we didn't want to tresspass on Provo's track, and BYU's indoor track was being used for women's conference. After the meet it took forever and a half to get home (2 hrs) and Connor and I went to the spring to icebath, but the freaking thing was turned off. There were also dead fish in the spring, so that's cool... we ended up doing it in the creek.

Shoutout to Brinn for qualifying for state in the 200, that one Emily girl who ran a 55 in the 400, and Ryan for qualifying for state in the 2-mile by 7 seconds with 9:29!

I ran the 800 today, and got 2:03. I was originally planning on going sub-2:00, but that didn't happen. I was seated 2nd in my heat, but the 1st guy didn't show up, so I was on the inside. The start was staggered, so after the first 100, everyone collapsed on me and I got tripped up quite a bit, boxed in, and cut off. I ended up in the back on the back stretch just so I could try and go around everyone. I started gaining ground and was forced into lane 3 on the home stretch to try and pass the main group. I was building speed the entire second lap, but didn't shift gears until 75m left. I should have done it earlier. It was a solid race, but I was perfectly capable of going sub-2 had I been more aggresive and more aware of my position in relation to everyone else in my heat. Now I have something to focus on for region!

Shoutout to my boys Connor, Sean, and Thom for all going sub-4:30 in the mile, and Connor for qualifying for state with 4:23!

I'm cutting back the miles a little bit this week in taper for region on Thursday. Today was a good run, my right shin was giving me some issues during the warmup, but was good after that.

Connor and Maddy had sick speed workouts today in preparation for state, 6x800 at 2-mile pace. The rest of team pre and I got to take turns pacing them for these, and they killed it!

Also some random guys came up to Brady and I at the BYU invite and asked if we were on team pre, because they follow us on ol' instagram. So apparently we are getting some traction, so shoutout to those guys for finding us!

I got to run in the rain today, so that was cool. I'm starting to make very slight changes to my form, and I can feel the difference. I went to the physical therapist on Wednesday and got my form analyzed, and apparently every time my left foot hits the ground, my left hip gives a little bit, putting everything out of alignment and making my left foot hit harder, thus the stress fractures. I've been doing hip strengthening exercises and the guy also gave me some tips to lean forward a little bit more, and running just feels easier now. My average pace for today was 6:48, and I feel great. So shoutout to the physical therapist because that was my first completely pain free run in a long while

We had a sick tempo run today, 3 miles that were supposed to range from 5:30 to 5:45. First mile was 5:47, and it felt fast but good, like I could hold out for another couple miles. Thomas was assigned to be the leader/pacer today, and for the most part he kept us on pace.

Side note, Jamie is making our runs more organized in general, and it's going great! For the tempo runs now, we have a "commitment point", where we absolutely have to stay as a pack until that point, then we can spread out based on how we are feeling after that.

Our commitment point today was 2 miles. The second mile was 5:51, so a little slow, but I could tell Thomas was having a hard time keeping it today. At that point I was feeling good, so Connor, Michael, and I picked up the pace a bit and had a strong finish to a very good tempo run. The last mile was 5:28 bringing the 3 mile time to around 17 minutes, which I had no idea I was capable of at this point.

Days like today get me super excited for the season and to start racing!

Wistle hills today, which was unfortunate because I was expecting a distance run and I decided to eat a big ol bowl of frosted flakes before practice...

3 sets of 15, 20, and 25 second sprints up the hill in the cemetery. I felt like puking from the beginning of the second set until the end, when I puked. It was a very solid workout, the frosted flakes just weren't a good idea. I was able to stay in the front for most of them, except one where I was boxed in the whole time. It was solid! Then we finished our miles and did abs. We icebathed in the spring of living waters and went to the Hinkley's for breakfast.

Shout out to Mama Hinkley for making us breakfast!

We had 10 90 sec pickups today with 90 sec active rest. The pickups were at 2-mile pace, but I never really knew what pace I was actually doing because I didn't look at my watch... So 1-4 went well, I was towards the front right behind Connor and next to Thomas. The 5th one I fell off a little bit to the back of the pack because it was starting to get difficult. At that point I made the choice to stick with Ryan and Connor in the front and see what happened. 6-10 were really good, but Connor fell back, so it was mainly Ryan and I leading. I was able to stay there until the tenth one where Ryan pulled away a little bit. It was a solid workout!

So the original plan was to hike up timp, but Ryan, Austin, and I ended up running up it, waiting at the top for the rest of the group, then we all hiked back down. If you're ever in need of a great hill workout, go run up a mountain. It was fun though! We ran right by a herd of mountain goats, and if you happen to follow me on instagram (@collin__xc), then you would see that we got a selfie with them.

We did the Dream Mile and a Half this fine morning, and it went pretty decently! Connor and Ryan took it easy because of the workload they had last week at the BYU xc camp, and Thom wasn't there. We started off at a good pace, and it was Chris, Michael, and I in a line in the front. Chris slowed down a little bit just after the overpass, and so it was then Michael and I in the front. We came through the mile at 5:36, on pace for an 8:24. Going up Airport Michael fell off a little bit, and I pushed what I could through to the end. I won and ended up with a 8:51, so I obviously slowed quite a bit that last half mile. Next time I'll try to have a more even pace throughout.

Shout out to Connor, Garek, and Ryan for slaying at the byu camp.

Tempo run today! 3.5 miles between 5:30 and 5:45. We did a 1.5 mile warmup then got going on the tempo.

Jamie had me pace today with Austin as the "wingman", the first mile was 5:43, second mile was 5:40, then we got to the commitment point at 2.5 miles and Thom, Connor, Michael, and Ryan picked it up and took the lead. At that point I was have a pretty hard time holding the pace, my third mile was 5:55 and we came through the 5k around 17:52. The last half mile was pretty rough, 2:57.

My mental game wasn't what it should've been today, but I stayed in the lead and paced the group at least until the commitment point, which is what Jamie wanted me to do.

We then went to the Hinckley's house for some killer french toast, thanks Mama Hinckley!

It was the last day of camp today, and I may or may not have shed tears. 10 miles on some trails up suncrest at 8:10 avg pace. The first 5 were flat/downhill and the last 5 were flat/uphill. Kinda brutal but satisfying in a sick twisted way.

After the swim we went to the SOLW and the Hinckley's for some sick sting pong, and I ended up slamming my toe into a wall and it was bleeding everywhere so that was slightly painful and that toenail will be gone in the very near future.

We did the Dream Mile and a Half today, and it was pretty good. From the start I could tell my legs were pretty tired, both from camp last week and not eating very much yesterday. We started out at a solid pace, I just tried to settle in next to Thom. So Ryan was in the front, then me and Thom, then I think Michael and Austin. We came through the mile at 5:35, and I tossed in a surge because the pace was getting a little slow. Thom surged with me so that was good. At the base of airport Thom settled in behind me and I felt strong to just power up the hill and it wasn't too bad. I ended up 2nd behind Ryan (or I guess technically 3rd behind Connor, but he did it after us because he woke up late) with an 8:40. I matched my PR, so I'll take it considering everything last week. Then Ryan, Kobe and I went to the Heaps for a drink and Ryan looked like he was about to faint and I think his blood sugar was low so we made him drink some chocolate milk and he was able to finish out the miles.

Shout out to Mama Heaps for letting us get water and blackberries and such.

AM: Ryan, Chris, Strrt, Sam, Garret, Big T, and I all raced the team race today because we won't be there next Wednesday when the rest of the team does it.

The first mile was 5:15, a little fast, but solid. The second mile was 5:32, and because I was being dumb at the time I let Ryan gap me a little bit, so I was going alone, which made it harder. The last .89 was really weird, and the time for that was 5:20. In the last .89 I almost totally went the wrong way but luckily Jamie was walking right there so she told me where to go, then I missed an extra little loop because I didn't see the arrows on the ground, thus it being .89, not a mile. Ryan also took a wrong turn, but a different one than I did, so his distance was a little weird as well.

I ended up finishing with way too much energy for it being a race. It felt more like I was finishing a tempo rather than a race. I'm sure when I'm running in the pack and there are actually people around me I will be able to pace it better and push myself a little more, but from a workout standpoint, today was good.

We got back from lake Powell today and while I was there I found a sick river bed to run in during the week. Shout out to the coyotes for not eating me, you guys are the real mvp's.

Also I'm now a freaking pro when it comes to wakeboarding, so feel free to take me boating.

I also need to give a well deserved shout out to my aunt and uncle (plus they're kids for being freaking awesome cousins) for making this trip possible by providing all watercraft involved, and for feeding us awesome food.

Another shout out to Strrt because he went to the MTC this week and he was an amazing person to have known, I'll miss him but he's going to convert his entire area, so it's kind of almost ok.

Anyway, today after we got back I went to airport hill to do the workout, 3 sets of 3x90 sec pickups up the hill. I got to the top of the hill every time, but my paces were super slow, like around 6:30-7:00, so idk what's up with that. It was just an off day.

After I got the rest of my miles in I went to the SOLW, and just for future reference, 12 minutes in that thing go by waaaayyyy slower without your buds to talk to.

Shout out to Papa Heaps and Sami because I saw both of them during my run today!

We had the highland invite today, and I have very mixed feelings about how I did. We warmed up 1 mile, then started the race. The first mile was 5:27, but a guy off to the side said it was a 5:05... He was very wrong. When I heard 5:05, I was a little scared because I thought I had gone out way too fast, and I didn't find it till after the race that it was actually 5:27.

The second mile was 5:44, and the last .9 was at that same pace.

After I crossed the finish line I was in a very odd state. I dry heaved multiple time, could barely keep my balance, and was in a pretty high amount of overall pain/discomfort. Obviously this is to be expected after a race, I just need to get used to it again.

Our team (varsity) finished 3rd which was kinda dumb because it was timp, and we should've crushed them.

All in all, it was a decent first race, but I have a ton to improve on as the season progresses.

When we got back we went to the SOLW and scared the heck out of Sami, Bridge, Jaden, and Mickinley because it was dark and they were already in there. They pretty much thought they were going to die. Shout out to my boys who raced varsity with me today, you guys killed it.

After School: 4 mi with Connor, Michael, and Austin. We did one outside then 3 on the treadmills because it was so hot. However, kudos to the PV kids for running in that heat, you guys are freaking insane. 95 degrees makes me want to die.

PM: Westlake duel meet, we took it as a great opportunity for a tempo run and we just had a blast. It's a 2 mile course (roughly), and I finished in 10:46. We came through the mile at 5:43, super chill, then we picked it up a bit because that's what Jamie wanted us to do. My watch said the last .94 was in 5:03 but at 5:23 pace which makes sense and was right where we wanted to be. That run was so freaking fun. I need to approach my races with a better atitude because how I did today, not actually racing, is a great sign for this weekend at the grass relays.

SOLW after we got back because we have 800's tomorrow, and shout out to Sami for getting dunked by Thom 3 times... just for the record I only cheered for one time... but way to take initiative Thom!

AF Grass relays was today, and tbh I kinda sucked. Just to put things into perspective, I ran a 10:46 two mile tempo workout on Tuesday, and held a 5:10 pace for 8 800's on Wednesday, then got an 11:05 today.

My first mile was 5:14, then my second mile was 5:48. I didn't think I was going slower the second mile, but apparently I was.

I'm definitely not happy with today, but everyone has off days and my legs were just roasted. The best thing I can do with this race is to learn from it and do better at BYU. I've noticed that my workouts have been going really well lately with regards to how I'm feeling and pacing and such, but it isn't translating to my races. I'll talk to Jamie about it on Monday to see what I can change, but until then I just need to not beat myself up over it.

Shout out to Utah Run for hiring me and being the sickest place ever to work. Another shout out to Brady Taylor for coming and supporting the team today and to my boys who raced with me today!

The second mile was in the teens, bringing my 2-mile split to under 10:30 (fun fact, that's over 30 sec faster than I ran at grass relays, which I sucked at), which also felt solid considering I was able to stay up with the guys. The third mile, however, was rough. I lost contact with Thomas and Austin, but held my position. My last mile was around a whopping 5:50. That's definitely something to work on. Despite the unfortunate third mile, I finished with a time of 16:27, which is a 27 second PR for the 5k, so I'm pretty happy with that.

As for the team, we took third after Davis and Desert Hills. Our 1-5 spread was 41 seconds, going Connor, Ryan, Austin, Thomas, me, and Michael and Kobe were 6th and 7th.

I'm super excited to see how the rest of the season goes, and I'm very grateful for the breakthrough I had today.

Today we had a very very difficult hill ladder workout. We did 3 sets of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, all at 5k pace, up airport hill. The only rest we got was jogging back down to the bottom. When we finished the first set, I knew I was in for a rough time. By the middle of the second set my legs were really feeling it and on the jog down after the 300 I had a major side stitch and I started hyperventilating a little bit, and a few tears may or may not have been shed.

The third set for me was pretty much all guts. Starting the workout I was honestly debating whether or not I would be able to finish. The last 400 and 500 up that hill I gave everything I had and Connor and I sprinted out the last 50 meters.

It hurt like heck, but that was the goal. Shout out to Spencer for helping me get into a better state of mind after the second set. Also shout out to pain, because it became my friend today.

Warmed up 2 miles, then did the 6 minute test. We decided that we would switch off pacing every lap, hoping to hit 70's. I paced the first lap in a 70, then Connor took over, bringing us to 2:25, then Ryan took over, bringing us to 3:40ish. We came through the mile in about 4:51, then we (Ryan, Connor, Thom, and I) picked it up and started kicking. I made it 5 laps and 20 meters, after Ryan, Connor, and Thom. Pacing per lap was an amazing idea! It made it so much easier!

I'll say it from the start, this course is a beast. Warmed up 1.5 miles, then started the race. The start was literally horrible and I got crazily boxed in. I had to do some serious weaving to get into even a decent position. I was hoping to try and stay with Thom today, but I wasn't ever able to make it up to him. The first mile wasn't fast at all, my watch said 6:11. The second mile was some good downhill, 5:43. The last mile included the ever famous mutha cussa, which I made up without walking, then the gradual uphill after that absolutely murdered me. Around 7:15 pace on that part and there was nothing I could've done about it #dontjudge. That one was like a 6:25 mile. The combination of downhill, then the mutha cussa, then the gradual uphill makes for one insane course, so kudos to herriman.

I've had a cold for the past couple days so that didn't help, and I need to change something when it comes to races. I can do awesome in workouts, but come race day, I can't deliver. I'm definitely going to see what I can do about that.

Shout out to Kobe and Guppy, who both got 4th in their races, and to us for getting 2nd.

So I pretty much felt like crap today. We did whistle hills, and by the end of the third set I couldn't really feel my legs, my head was pounding, and my vision was going weird. I told Jamie and she told me to just head back to the school and call it good for the day. The run back kinda sucked, but I survived so that's good. Alright, just so y'all know, food is good for you. So I downloaded this app called fatsecret to count my calories and stay on top of things, and based on my activity level and age and weight and all that stuff, it said I need 3700 calories every day. Thinking about it, I've been getting closer to 2500. So I actually ate enough yesterday after my fail of a workout, and today was freaking fantastic.

First we did a mile of speed changes on the track, just to make our legs a little tired. Then we did the dream mile and a half. I felt really good from the start. From the beginning I started pushing the pace, and by a half mile in, I was decisively in the lead, constantly pushing because I felt like I could. We came through the mile in 5:35, where I was still leading. At that point, Connor and Ryan picked it up, and I did my best to stick with them. I ended up finishing third after Ryan and Connor with a time of 8:31 and a 9 second PR.

I was very happy with today and I am looking forward to a half season filled with food and fast times. #thumbsup

It was the last workout of awesome week today, and indeed it was awesome. The workout was 6x1000m at 5k pace with 200m jog, then straight into a 200m sprint. After the sprint we got 3 minutes of rest. The 1000s were 3:06, 3:15, 3:11, 3:12, 3:12, and 3:16. The 200s were 28, 30, 28, 31, 29, and 26 on the last one. After the second 1000 I started to fall off the pack again but I was able to break that mental barrier and stick with them, staying on pace.

It was definitely a hard workout, but a really good one, I kinda liked the format of it. After a .5 mile cool down we went to the SOLW.

Bob Firman. What a doozie. We warmed up a mile, then did our stretches and drills in the starting area so we could get a good box. Shout out to Austin for picking one of the best boxes out there. We got out well, and the first mile was pretty darn fast. The whole first mile I was panicking a little bit because of how fast we went out. 4:59. At the same time I was trying to get up with Thom, Connor, and Ryan. I don't know what happened to me after that. I slowed down considerably and got passed by a ton of guys. Michael caught up to me and I did what I could to stay with him, but it just didn't happen. The further I ran the more I seemed to feel like crap and nothing went right. Michael pulled ahead and 3/4 mile away from the finish I got a sideache and it hurt to breath. Somehow I made it up the hill for the last time and passed a couple guys in my attempt of a kick. My finishing time was barely under 17, a whole minute off where I wanted to be.

I looked at the results, and had I been where I should have been, we would have had a very real shot at winning. I talked to Jamie about it and she keeps telling me it's not my fault. Here's the thing. I know I can stay with Thomas. I've done it in 90% of the speed workouts we've had. However, come race day, I keep choking and nothing goes my way. I don't know what's wrong. Papa Heaps said Jackie is struggling with some of the same things and she went to see a sports psychologist to help. He also recommended a book to help with the mental side of things. I know it's mental, I just need to figure it out. Wish me luck.

On the bright side, we took 4th, and Guppy took 12th in her race, out-kicking Aubrey Argyle.

Y'all can be super proud of me because I ran 2.5 miles today and my foot didn't hurt. Sorry I haven't been on the blog, I've been on the bikes working my butt off, I promise.

Anyway, I warmed up a mile on the turf just to feel things out. It felt so good. We had speed today, 12x400m. The first 4 at 5k pace, second 4 at 2-mile pace, and last 4 at mile pace, with the last one being all out. Because of not wanting to push my foot too hard, I did the first 2 sets on the bike next to the track. Then came the last set.

The times I hit for the last set were 65, 65, 67, and 59. The first one my form felt a little weird because I've been on the bikes, but after that it got better and better. My form honestly felt better then it ever has, and apparently it was noticeable because Coach G noticed and told me my form was phenominal #perfectformclub. It feels so amazing to be running, and I'm going to make sure to listen to my body this week so I don't hurt myself before region.

We had region today, and let me tell ya, it was a great thing. We warmed up a mile, did our drills in the starting area, and got our box. The boxes were sick because everyone could fit on the front line.

So the race started, and today was different than anything else previously. I was relaxed, strong, and insanely competitive the first mile. 4:52, came through in 3rd place. Then the second mile happened, and I began to slip mentally. 5:15, with a 10:07 2-mile split, also happening to be my new 2-mile PR. The last mile was 5:33, and I had a decent kick the last .12.

All in all today was a solid step in the right direction with a new 5k PR by 17 seconds, 16:10. Here's what I'm going to do next time. I'm still going to go out at whatever pace feels good for the day. At that point, I'm going to lock in my position and not let anybody pass me. Period. Then the last mile I'm going to move up and finish strong. The biggest thing I can do to get better is be more competitive the whole time. The first mile I was very very competitive, but after the first 1.75 miles, I wasn't near as competitive.

We warmed up a mile on the turf and then did 2 miles of speed changes. My foot felt good the whole time so that was great! We also found a tennis ball on the turf and we were passing that around, and on my first lap of speed changes I was focusing on catching the ball and I ate it on a pad on the turf. My knee got skinned pretty good so that's sick. Shout out to my grandparents because it's their anniversary!

State. Wow. Before I get ahead of myself, I'll start from the beginning.

We got to the meet pretty early so we could watch a lot of the other races. We saw PV race, and they killed it, so shout out to them, especially Nick Hill because he won, nbd. Also PV girls, you killed it and it's time to focus on nxr. As a famous song says, the past is in the past, let it go.

Guppy killed it in her race and it was super cool to see her go out there and get work done. She got 14th overall and str8 killed it.

When we first got there I saw a long lost friend Madi from ol SF, so shout out to her because catching up with her was pretty great.

Then came our race. The culmination of the season, smashed into around 16 minutes. Going in to the race, Jamie and coach G made it very clear that they believed in us and our abilities, and knew that we could accomplish amazing things. We got warmed up, and I was surprisingly calm and collected. At the same time I was ready to go. We did our strides, prayer, and cheer in the box, and let me just say, I freaking love our cheer because everyone always stares at us after it. It's fantastic. So the gun went off, and I was just focused on staying calm. No way was I going to go out too fast and die. I don't know what my splits were, but the first mile felt good. I was right behind Joe, and I did my best to stick with him, Michael, and Austin from then on. We picked it up a little bit and passed some guys, but I mostly held my position. At the top of the hill by the road above the playground Jamie was cheering, telling me that I was strong. That really helped, and I was hungry to pass more people. I threw in a surge, passed a couple guys, and pushed it down the hill. Then the third and final mile came, much faster than expected, and I realized, this is it. This is the last mile of the last race of the official season, at state. What choice am I going to make? I chose to keep pushing, and I finished strong in 16:13 and 34th place.

Although this was a good race individually fo me, I can do better. There is still a gap between my speed workouts and races, so I talked to Jamie and we'll see what I can change mentally to kill it at NXR.

The team as a whole did amazing. We got second place and reached our goal of bringing home a trophy. I love my team so much and I'd do anything for any one of those guys. We screamed our cheer at the top of our lungs on the track afterwards, and it was fire. We then got our trophy and took a victory lap, cuz why not?

It was seriously cool to see the support we got from our whole team and how much they cared about how we did, so shout out to them.

Another shout out to my family and non-running pals who came to support, love you guys.

After a cool down on cloud 9, we proceeded to pizza pie cafe where we stuffed our faces with the best tasting pizza I've had in a long time.

Also shout out to all those who read to this point, you da real mvp's.

Last but not least, our team still has things to prove, so watch out at NXR.

4 miles easy, I kept the pace super easy today, for some reason I felt like I needed it. Maybe because I was up till 1:00 last night... Anyway, tomorrow we have our first speed since state, and to be honest I'm pretty excited for it. It's a workout we have really done ever, but it sounds fun!

We did a mile warmup on the turf then got started on the workout!

The original plan was to do a 4 mile progression run, starting at 6:00, then dropping 10 seconds every mile, the last one being 5:30. On the watch my splits were 5:50, 5:49, 5:33, and 5:18. The first couple miles were pretty easy, like we were talking a little the first bit. I still felt strong the last two miles, but the last mile was fast. Thom and Ryan picked it up quite a bit and I let them go. I shouldn't have let them go, but I did and I still finished faster than planned. I was caught up in watching my watch and trying to stay on pace, which was good, but I feel like we should've stayed as a group. I'm not saying it's their fault, I needed to step it up a little bit.

I have mixed feelings about how it went today, but I'm for sure happy that I was able to hit the splits I hit on legs that are still pretty tired. You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning and you are just groggy and unresponsive? That's how my legs have felt, I think the speed today woke them up a little bit though, which is good. Shout out to Connor because he's been visiting a lot of colleges recently, it's super cool to see him do the things he's doing this season, as well as all the other guys on the team, we've all put in work and it's time to get a return on our payment at NXR.

We warmed up, and got ready to start the first ever CBC.

It was freaking cold and we were standing around for about 15 minutes before we actually started the race because Asa and Josh couldn't figure out how to work the sound system so we couldn't have their lit tunes going through our heads during the race, but it was ok.

We started out, and Michael paced the first couple laps, and Ryan paced the next couple. We were going single file to reduce the effect of the wind on the back stretch. I was right behind Christian Allen from Copper Hills for the first mile, and we came through at 5:11. Connor then took the lead and picked it up quite a bit. The first mile was on pace for me, so I let them go, deciding to run on my own from then on. It was a weird situation because I knew I needed to pick up the pace for most of the laps after that, but I just didn't do it. I felt like I was going a little faster, but my split every lap either stayed the same or got slower, so that was no bueno. I finished with a time of 17:08, which has been my slowest 5k this year, the same time I got at Bob Firman last year. I'll work on staying strong and pushing myself more during those middle and last reps in the workouts between now and NXR and I need to stop overanalyzing everything in the middle of the race and just run, and just run fast.

Shout out to the girls team, David, Mickinley, my mom, my brothers, and the other parents who came to watch and support, it was a party!

Also, shout out to Asa because he Pr'd by like 29 seconds, so that's sick!

This is the day. We woke up at 7:30 so we could have time to eat breakfast and get everything together before we left at 8:30. For breakfast I had some killer quaker instant oatmeal bc oatmeal is the best. The bus ride to the race was pretty short because the hotel was pretty close so that was nice.

When we got there we saw the end of the girls D1 race, and Guppy won so shout out to her. The other girls came in a pretty great pack so they ended up taking 4th.

We then warmed up. We went a mile and my legs felt primed and ready to go.
