Hey guys, I'm making a return to the blog so that's sick. I don't feel like finishing the nxr post bc it wasn't that great. Enjoy the description of my breakfast. Today we had 2 sets of 400m, 600m, 200m, all at goal indoor mile pace. My splits were 66, 1:44, 33 for the first set, and 67, 1:40, 29 for the last set. The rest was 45sec between the 409 and 600, and 1 minute between the 600 and 200. 5 min active rest between sets. I was really happy with today because I felt strong and I made the choice to push the pace when going got tough. That's a choice I need to get used to making. I was able to stick with the front of the pack the whole time and kick hard the last 200m. Freaking Ryan wouldn't let me pull away so I returned the favor lol so shout out to him. Also, don't eat chick-fil-a right before a speed workout. Haha your stomach will hate you. Trust me. I speak from experience.

Super dope recovery @7:10 ap today. I felt surprisingly good so that was fantastic. I could tell I did speed yesterday though lol. Super chill run. Then Riley thought he could bench more than me so we had a benching competition. I won, he maxed out at 115lbs and I was pumping em out so I'm the benching champion #swole. I'll have to get the Hinckleys to have a face off with me, they're getting swole. Then we did rdl's and squats, then 2 10 min hill climbs on the bike and 20 min of abs. I didn't leave the school until 5:40 haha. Shout out to all my hobbyjogger homies bc they're cool

70 min Saturday, 40 min on the ol indoor bike and 34 minutes running. We kept the intensity pretty decent on the bike and running was a struggle at first bc my quads were wrecked from the bike but it got better. Average pace was 6:44. Also my hamstring has been hurting quite a bit today and rolling out just made it feel tighter. I'll ice and say some prayers and hope for the best.

Also shout out to Kobe for coming back with me and being there to drop our mile splits from 7:10 to 6:12 lol. Speed today, I was with the mile/800 group. Warmed up 1 mile, then got started. The workout was 3 sets of 2x300m at goal 800 pace, so they were supposed to be around 45 sec each. Just in case y'all didn't do the math, that's 1800m at goal 800m pace. Aka ouch. Rest was 90 sec between each rep and 4 min between each set. My splits were 46,45,47,46,47, and 51. They were all a little slow and all was well for the first 4, but on the 4th one, fatigue hit me like a bus on the last 100m. I then proceeded to throw up some previously delicious fruit snacks and I was trying to get my act together by the time the rest was over but my body decided to hurl again and so I missed the 5th one. I was a little more coherent for the last one with the group, 47. Then I did one on my own and it was a little rough, 51. I'm glad I finished though. I will never again mock an 800 workout.

Cross training on the indoor bike so I can recover from speed yo. I'll be doing this after most speed workouts to prevent injury. Basically indoor bikes complete me. Especially when there is no music in the bike room. That part is the best. You are sitting there staring at either your sweat as it drops to the ground or the opposite wall with the HR facts I've read one too many times. So freaking entertainjng.I love the indoor bikes. Jk I'd rather be running lol but gotta stay healthy

Super sick speed today. Got warmed up and got going. It was 4x(200m,400m,200m) with 60 sec rest within the set and 3 min active rest between sets with 15 sec of jump lunges within that 3 minutes. The jump lunges were an interesting edition lol. Everything was at goal indoor mile pace. My splits were 32,68,32 for the first set, 32,67,32 for the second set, 32,65,32 for the third set, and 32,64,27 for the last set. Today was one of those days where I felt eh going into the workout, but throughout I stuck right with Thomas and Ryan for the first couple sets then decided to pass Thomas and it was a beautiful thing to feel so strong. I'm finally getting to where I should be. Shout out to Dallin bc when I get up to full mileage, we'll have the same mileage.

Warmed up 2 miles, then got started with the speed workout. We did 6x(400m,200m) at goal indoor mile pace with 45 sec rest within the set and 2 min active rest between sets. My splits were 66,34,67,33,66,32,66,33,66,32,63,33. I was super happy today because once we found the pace, we were just able to tick em off one by one. It was a great workout but Jamie wouldn't let us go all out the last 200 so that was lame. Also, Ryan, Thomas, and I had a super tight pack the entire time so that was awesome. I'm finally realizing potential. I'm ready to throw down a fast mile at Simplot. Shout out to Ryan for trusting my pacing abilities for one of the 400s😂 and it was right on pace haha

Also shout out to my mom for bringing me a delicious salad to eat while we lifted weights. I got some really weird looks from the soccer girls in the weight room considering I was barefoot eating a salad in very bright shorts and a very bright shirt (different color, they didn't exactly go together lol) benching my heart out. AM: 4 easy miles, I convinced my mom to let me race the 800 tonight so we'll see how that goes.

PM: 800m at the distance challenge. I started out it a good position, second place by the time the curve came right on the inside so that was great. I came through the 400 in 59, and this is where is got stupid. Hearing the split 59, the thought ran through my head, "oh you're totally good you just hit a 59" and I pulled up. Stupid stupid stupid stupid. It wasn't like I really slowed down I just didn't push myself like I could've. Then freaking Adam Wood out-kicked me in the last 100m and I was sprinting as hard as I could when I saw him out of the corner of my eye. I'm sick of him sitting and kicking by me. It all came down to that second to last 200m. Gotta work on that. But all in all it was a pretty good first 800 of the season with a PR.

It was an easy workout just meant to feel the pace. I'm not the best at pacing alone, and I was alone because all the other varsity guys are doing the 2 mile at Simplot, so they did the 2 mile workout. I'm doing the mile. Dream Maker today, my achilles has felt decent the past couple days so I thought I'd through some speed at it and see what happens. We started out at a good pace and I was staying mentally tough. Half-mile in I surged to the lead and started pushing a little more. Last time I made this move I was able to hold it somewhat and Connor and Ryan were the only ones who passed me. This time was a little different. There was a major headwind, so leading was definitely not fun, and fatigue was coming fast because I haven't gotten much sleep for the past week. So here I was, leading a group of Connor, Ryan, Thomas, and I. A little before a mile in I lost them and was on my own. First mile was 5:32. My legs felt like lead going up that last hill and the wind didn't make it any easier. Austin caught me at the base of airport and he had a little bit of a gap on me so we were both fighting the wind individually. I should've stuck with him then to get some major drafting going. But I caught him again at the top of the hill and I thought I was home free on the last stretch, but no, here comes Austin on my shoulder so I sprinted my little heart out into the wind and I think I might've edged him out at the line but it was close. Time was 9:06, 26 seconds off my PR. Up until this point my achilles felt great, no pain. About .25 into the cool down it seized up big time. It was a painful trip back to the school. So, I see biking and swimming in my future for the next 5 days. Great effort from everyone today. I freaking love my team.

Use ice on your achilles to keep the inflammation down. Be careful not to over stretch them.

If you do run on them, make sure you do a good slow warmup.

I ran with achilles problems all last year and was still able to run some good races.

However, when I was a college runner, achilles problems ended my running career, so healing is not something you want to rush.

Good luck to you.

I rolled a bike out to the turf so I could do the workout with the team. The workout was 5x500m at 800m pace with 6 min rest. According to Jamie, if you're running your true 800 pace then this workout is physically impossible, so you just gotta hang on as long as possible and then a little more. I did it all with them, just on the bike instead. I was able to stay pretty mentally strong for the most part but it's tough on the bike. I just know I pushed myself because I couldn't see super well after the last one, I had a pounding headache, and I was a little dizzy haha. So I laid on the turf for a little bit till the pain went away. I'm just glad I was able to push myself so hard on the bike. It's hard though because I always wonder if what I'm doing is enough. Oh well. Injuries suck. Gotta get over it. Much love for the team.

We had the 20x400m workout today. It's in sets of 5, the first five at 5k pace, then 2 mile, then mile, then what whatever you got left for the last five. 45 sec rest for the first set, then 60 sec, then 90 sec, and 2 min for the last one. Jamie had me do the first and last set on the bike on the turf, so I ran the middle sets. Splits were 69,69,73,71,71,68,67,68,66,67. While I was running, at first I tried to stick with Michael, Austin, and Thom, and that worked pretty well, and I started to feel more fresh as I kept going, which was weird but fantastic. I could tell my body was completely thrashed from the tough workouts this week and not as much sleep as I should be getting. Then the second set I ran I decided to stick right with Connor and Ryan and that worked pretty well, and I was able to stick with them. Then the last set on the bike I freaking killed my body. The achilles felt fantastic the whole time so that was great! Shoutout to Ryan for rollingg me out afterwards. Huge confidence builder today. Great stuff from everybody!

6 super slow miles at 7:39 average pace and it was basically a party. We drove up the Highland Glen park so we could run somewhere not in Lehi. We're kinda sick of it. So we were on the MCT and when Asa, Michael, Austin, and I were turning around we saw Adam from LP so we ran with him for the last 3 miles so that was fun and shout out to adam! Super sick speed today, lol but my legs are still freaking wrecked from awesome week so that's cool. the workout  was 2x(800m, 600m, 400m, 200m) with 2 min rest within the set and 4 min between sets. the 800 and 600 were at 2 mile pace and the 4 and 2 were at miles pace. I was able to stay pretty mentally strong throughout. so that was good. My splits were 2:23, 1:46, 65, 32, 2:23, 1:47, 66, and 30. I was really happy with it considering my legs felt so dead, so that was fantastic but it was a little tough because I was a couple meters behind Thomas and Ryan but a couple meters ahead of the Hinkleys, so I was kind of on my own for a lot of it but it was good for me. Shout out to everyone for killing it today!

Rex Lee Run today off speed yesterday and not a lot of sleep, so the plan was to tempo it and see how I felt. First mile was 5:30, and my legs were pretty trashed but felt decent. Second mile was 5:28, and I passed all the chumps who went out way too fast. Third mile I was just trying to maintain position or pass a couple guys. I was surprised because the third split was 5:58 but I still passed some people. That means some people really died lol. The last .1 I just maintained and kicked it in a little bit. I didn't feel like pushing super hard today, as is evident by my third mile. Haha but it was fun and I won a $140 watch for winning my age group. The youngest guy in front of me was 21 so that was cool. I feel so young in these races seeing as I'm still 16... Also I cooled down with this guy named Brady, who got off his mission a little while ago and is running for SUU. He got 3rd with 16:02 so shout out to him. He's a super cool dude. Also shout out to all the other cool guys I met and talked to today, I love road races!

Little did Ryan and I know, Austin decided to go our way a little bit after us and didn't catch us until we stopped to stretch 2.5 miles in, but shout out to him because he was going the same mileage as me! This is my last week of building up mileage, and if all goes well, I'll finally be at 6-7-8 starting next week. It's about freaking time. Anyway, it was a fun run, 7 miles at 7:05 average pace.

Speed today, nothing crazy, just 6x400m at mile pace with a lap recovery in between. Splits were 65,68,66,66,64,63. It felt super controlled and I'm finally getting a strong mental game. There was a sweet group of Ryan, Thom, and I so that was fun to trade off pacing duties. Those paces weren't hard to hit so I'm excited for the season. But for now, I'm excited to race the 800 tomorrow con mi amigos de lone peak. The goal is to throw down some sub-2 times so we'll see what happens. Also my calves felt like falling off today. I rolled em out, slapped some compression socks on and I'm going to bathe them in deep blue rub before bed. They should be nice and loose tomorrow.

800m at the Lehi/LP dual meet, we were talking a little before and a bunch of guys wanted to go under two, so it was basically the most legendary dual meet in the history of this planet. We warmed up, started the race, and I was boxed in pretty bad for the first 150m because I started on the inside. I went around everyone and went into the lead 250m in. Hammered the first lap in 57. I felt strong starting the second lap and just went for it. Jamison passed me on the back stretch and I latched on to him and tried to pass him on the curve, but he held me off. Last 100m my legs were a little tired lol, but I crossed the line right before they said 2 minutes so I'm being optimistic with my time. I'll update it when I get the official results. I'm right there, crossing my fingers. I'm pretty happy with today considering we had speed yesterday and I just went for it so that was fun. Sweet cool down with LP afterwards, I love those guys. Shoutout to Jamison for going under 2 and everyone else for the good time and killing it.

Speed today, I had an 800m workout. It was 3x400m, 3x200m, and 3x100m, all at goal 800 pace. Rest was 4 min with the 400s, 2 min with the 200s, and 1 min with the 100s. My splits were 56,61,60,29,29,29,14,14,14. Chris and I decided to take turns pacing the 400s, I paced the first one and it was a little fast, but not too bad. Chris had the second one and it was a couple seconds slow, and I had the last one, it was decent but still a second or two slow. Then Chris's calf seized up so he had to stop, so I had the rest pretty much on my own. Nobody else was up there... But shout out to Chris for finishing the workout after his calf calmed down. I felt really tired because I only got 4 hours of sleep last night because of school stuff, but I was able to pull out some times I was happy with on tired legs. Also, dry heaving is no fun at all. I wasn't feeling too hot afterwards. I felt like I had spikes being stabbed into my temples and my vision was super bright and I dry heaved for a little bit. Eventually I was able to get my act together and went on a cool down with Parker. Also, I was .37 seconds away from my 400m PR on that first 400 so that was cool

800m at Davis today, and it was freaking dope. I was pretty nervous the whole day but I took a little nap during math lab and spent a lot of time calming my nerves. I think I'm getting this race anxiety under control so that's fantastic. I did a little shake out with Austin after his race and then warmed up with Chris. I was in the first heat, which kind of freaked me out because I've never been in the top heat in something but it turned out pretty good. Before the race Jamie told me to go out with Garek so I wouldn't get too crazy and go out too fast. I stuck with Garek and the first lap was 58. The second lap started and I started just grinding. I gave it whatever I had left, a couple guys had a better kick than me but I finished in 7th place and went under 2 with 1:59.63. I also found out a couple days ago that I actually didn't go under 2 at LP so that sucks but it's ok because I got it today. After the race I had a horrible headache and threw up a little. I'm sick of throwing up, it sucks. I did 1.5 miles with Thomas the freshman, and he's a cool dude, it'll be cool to see what he does later on so shout out to him. Then I had the 4x800m, I was the anchor on a team with Connor, Asa, and Parker. I went into it with a good attitude, just wanted to see what I could do after the sub-2. The first lap I got a little excited, 56 lol, tied my 400m PR. The second lap I realized I had already done one of these today and I died a little, my split was 2:06. 1 mile cooldown with Dallin. Shoutout to Ryan for winning the 2 mile after losing a spike with 2 laps to go, and shoutout to Thom for sticking with Ryan like none other. I'm really happy with going sub-2, like so beyond stoked I'm so freaking happy. Super awesome performances by everyone today so shout out to them. 400m just for kicks today. I ended up being in the fast heat with Dom from LP so that was a party. Lol it was weird being this super skinny distance kid who has no idea how to use blocks running with these freaking fast dudes. Took it out hard, probably could've been harder though. 200m in I remembered it's just 1 lap so I pushed it and pulled even with Dom and the leaders. It was unreal. Then they pulled away a little bit and I gave it everything I had. I can probably go faster next time. Shout out to Connor for asking Bill to prom, Guppy for answering me to prom, and the whole team because I freaking love you all. Also unshoutout to Gan because why not lol.

Shoutout to Dallin because he's pretty cool. And double unshoutout to Gan because it should definitely just be roast Gan week every week

Easy 6 today, we started out at a decent pace but my legs started feeling like crap. 7:16 average. I guess I just needed recovery today, so I took it. Shoutout to everyone who made it to Arcadia, everyone who was trying to go on our team made it for something so that's lit! I'll be running the 4xmile with Connor, Ryan, and Thomas and we got into the invite division with the LP guys so shout out to them and that means that we'll get backpacks. So freaking pumped.

Premeet today, 2x400 at goal mile pace for tomorrow. 67 and 65. It felt really good and I'm stoked. On the cooldown I stepped on the side of a pothole that I didn't see and pretty much my ankle should be completely broken right now. Like I scraped the side/top of my foot on the road. That's how far it rolled. But absolutely no pain #blessed. Super excited for tomorrow!

Mile at UVU this morning, and I'd say it was pretty great. I was originally going to be in a heat with Austin but I got bumped up a heat so I was with Thomas, Ryan, Justin, Jiree and Jiraa, and a bunch of other guys. It was way fun. Nobody would take the lead when we went out, so the first 800 was super slow, 2:20. I hung out in the back the first lap because I knew if I took the lead I would take it out too fast because this 800 training has jacked up my mile pacing. I got into a good position for the second 800, passing mostly everyone, and picked up the pace quite a bit. The second 800 was 2:12, and I feel like I could've gone way faster, but hey, it was a 12 second PR so I'll take it lol. I finished 4th in the heat behind Ryan (who won), a Davis guy, and Thomas, so 3 lehi guys in the top 4, it was lit. I was seeded 19th, so that was awesome. I'm way excited for the 4xmile at arcadia. Shoutout to everyone who raced today, everyone pretty much killed it.

Speed on another trail by the ocean today, I couldn't get to a track so I just went by the lap distances on my watch. Workout was 3x(400m, 200m) at goal pace for this weekend at Arcadia. 2 min rest within the set, 3 min between sets. All active. Haha pacing on a paved trail is rough when you're used to a track, so my splits were kinda all over the place. They were 69,31,61,30,64,31. There was this kinda creepy guy following me on a bike so I turned around and went his direction and he didn't follow so that was good. The trail went through some foresty area and it was dang beautiful. I'm loving it here.

6 miles in Modesto this morning. I had to wake up at 6:00 to get it done, aka way to flipping early to be alive on a vacation. Started out way easy with an 8:09 mile then did premeet for the mile along the road. 2x400m at goal race pace, and I nailed the paces, 65 and 65. My form felt choppy for the rest of the run, I think I'm just missing running with the guys. That usually helps. Way excited to see everyone tomorrow, it's been way too long

4xmile at Arcadia today. Ryan and I warmed up 2 miles, and Thom and Connor warmed up like 10 minutes after us. We went to the tent, got checked in, and put our spikes on. I was pretty darn nervous at this point but was doing my best to calm down because I'm not the best when I'm nervous... Anyway, Ryan started us off in a good position, then I got the baton and it was time to go. I kept it conservative, letting some guys pass me because I could tell they were going out way too fast. First lap was a 66, and it felt soooo good. Second lap was also a 66, and then things got crazy. I started the third lap and picked it up quite a bit, passing some guys. Idk what the splits were on the last two laps. The last lap I kicked it in and finished with a very strong kick. If I had to guess I'd say my split was around 4:22, but I'll update that when I can see official results. Either way it's a major PR so I'm way happy. I finished and I felt like I had more in the tank, so we'll see if I can push it a little more next time. Still figuring this whole racing thing out... Then I handed off to Thomas, and he moved us up a couple spots too, and then Connor got the baton, and we were in 7th. Top 5 get medals. Connor killed it and got us into 5th, so that was sick. Shoutout to Ryan, Thomas, and Connor because I loved running the 4xmile with them. Shoutout to Michael and Austin for killing the 2 mile. Lastly shoutout to Guppy because she's pretty awesome and she's racing tomorrow.

Update: My official split was 4:23, so a 9 second PR, so I'm way happy!

6 miles on the dreadmill at 7:30ish pace. I ran on the treadmill because my watch was pretty much dead so it wasn't going to last through a run outside. Not much else to say except that treadmills are incredibly boring, it reminds me of the bike room lol.

Huge shoutout to Connor, Zack, Ryan, and Thomas for killing it in the 3200 today, going 9:07, 9:09, 9:14, and 9:27 respectively. They freaking threw down in those races and I wish I could've been there to see it.

6x1min up airport today, and it was an interesting one. Ryan and I went hard the first 4 and I agree with him, maybe a little too hard lol because I died a little bit the last two, but not too bad. Ryan pulled away a little bit the 5th one and Connor passed me the last one, but I still got pretty close to the same distance. I was hurting pretty bad afterwards though and I threw up for the billionth time. I'm so sick of throwing up after speed/races. It sucks. Idk I guess it means I pushed myself.

Warm up mile barefoot on the turf, then we got started with the workout. It was 3 sets of 4x400m with 2:30 rest in the first set, 2:45 in the second, and 3:00 in the third. 4 min between sets. All active, lol I got a lot of miles in that way... The first set was 1-2 seconds slower than current mile pace, second set was mile pace, and last set was faster, whatever you had left I guess. Splits were 68,68,68,67,66,65,65,65,62,61,61,62. I started out just right, then the second set was a little fast, but it felt good so I went for it. The last set I totally took a huge risk. I surged on the back stretch of the first one, and realized I was commited, so I just went for it. Same thing for the next 3. Ryan and I battled a little bit on the second to last one, but he let me go for it. It showed in the last one lol. Him and Connor passed me, and I ended up with a 62. Not what I wanted on the last lap but I'm happy with the rest of the workout.

This week I've gotten not much sleep at all because ap calc and ap chem, enough said. My first race of the day was the open 1600 with Ryan. We went out freaking slow and the first 800 was 2:18. The next couple laps I picked it up and passed pretty much everyone. The second 800 was 2:11, so that was crazy. The last lap I surged to the lead and held it until the last 50m when I was battling with another guy, and he got me by like .5 seconds. I crossed the finish line and my vision started going dark, I almost blacked out. I head was also hurting really really bad. Pretty sure I'm low on sodium, also we're going to get my heart checked because my resting heart rate has been unusually high for the past couple months. Weather wasn't ideal, and I'm running out of time to qualify for state. Just gotta do it. The 2-mile was a solid tempo I guess lol. 10:07.

Speed workout for the 800 today. W/o was 3x(300m,200m,100m) all at 800 pace. 90 sec rest within the set and 5 min active between sets. Splits were 42.9,29.6,13.9,42.5,28.3,13.5,42.2,27.9,13.5. I was pretty happy with the splits I hit, seeing as they average out to like a 1:53 pace for the 800 lol. Prolly a little fast but whatevs it was very doable. Good stuff from everyone today.

10x1min pickups at 5k pace to shake out the legs a little bit/get some extra speed in. Paces were 5:19,5:17,5:17,5:01,5:03,5:17,4:48,5:06,4:55,4:56. My legs didn't feel as bad as I thought they would, and the pickups weren't as hard as I thought they'd be so that was good. It was just Connor and I for most of it, Michael had to turn back early and everyone else was somewhere else I guess.

I got an EKG done for my heart during 3rd period today, and apparently I'm so low on sodium that my heart isn't beating correctly, so that's bad, I'll get on top of sodium and then maybe my heart will be normal and I can throw down some sick times lol.

Also happy birthday shoutout to my boy Connor Baller!

800m at tiger trials today. I warmed up a mile with Jake, Dallin, and Parker, then checked in. I was in the first heat, seeded 7th out of 15, so that was a good position. First lap was slower than it should've been, right around 59-60. The second lap I tried to haul and the last 100 I tightened up pretty bad, but it was a PR, and I finished 7th, so even though I missed state by .4 seconds (smh) it was a pretty good race. 6.5 mile cooldown with Ryan afterwards.

Shoutout to Guppy because I love her and prom was basically the best night ever.

Incredibly rough day today... We had a speed workout, 2x(200,800,400,200,200,200) 200's at 800 pace, 800 at 2-mile pace, and 400 at mile pace. I started out great the first set, but the second 800 my windpipe closed up real bad and I straight up couldn't breathe. I died hard. Kinda scary stuff. Finished up on the bikes and used my brothers inhaler tonight.

Did a couple miles at a time at the byu meet, and then premeet back at the school. 2x200m, 29 and 28. My legs actually feel good and responsive today, so that was freaking fantastic! I think I know why, and bare with me here.

I've been going to a psychologist for the past couple months to kinda get in a better mindset for racing and just life in general, and I went again yesterday, and the lady asked how my legs felt and I was like, pretty tired, but it's fine. Then she was like well take the next minute or so and pay attention to your legs and see what they have to tell you. And I was like what the heck? Listen to my legs? Lol so I concentrated real hard and the more I "listened" to my legs the less tired they felt. Then she was like what did you notice? Then I said that I should probably wear compression tomorrow and they actually feel better, but my quads still feel pretty spent. Then she told me to concentrate and think about them. So I did, and I kid you not. They started feeling fresh. Like what on earth is happening. So.... Listen up kids, your mind can do incredible things. Freaking listen to your body.

800m at BYU today, the goal was to qualify for state. I got way too nervous before the race, probably because I didn't have my earphones so I couldn't listen to the usual relaxing music... Race started, I got boxed in the whole first lap and I would had to go to lane 3 to pass. That lap was a 60. I tried my best to make it up in the second lap but because the first lap was that slow I couldn't really make it up. I had too much energy after I finished. It was all that first lap. Freaking mad about the time, but it is what it is and looks like I'm going to have to make state in both the mile and 800 at region. Crunch time.

Yes, I have goals, but I need to focus on the moment in the race to do what I can control, and not worry about anything else. I know I am capable of getting state in the mile and 800 tomorrow, I just need to be there mentally in order to do it. Region today. I did the mile first, so I'll start there. I warmed up, and got ready to go. I was seeded 6th behind Justin, Jamison, Adam Wood, Adam Jensen, and Thom. We went out and Thom was leading, took us through in 65. Idk what the rest of my splits were. I just tried to hang on to the lead pack for the next two laps then kill it the last lap. The last lap I kicked it in and had a very strong finish, I wish I knew for sure what that split was. I finished third behind Jamison and Justin with a 7 second altitude PR (4:22.44), also beating my time from arcadia so that was sick. Also I didn't have any salt today because I ran out of lemonade drink mix and no way am I drinking straight salt water, so recovering from the mile was freaking rough, I wanted to die for a good 20 minutes. It was miserable. Threw up a couple times. Then I dragged myself out of my pitiful state of existence to attempt to qualify in the 800m. Led the first lap in 58, and tried my best to hold it, but died hardcore. Finish time was 2:03.21. After I crossed the finish line I could barely keep my eyes open, I straight up almost passed out. Jamie and Caleb had to practically carry me away. Gotta stay on top of that salt intake. But all in all I'm way happy with qualifying for state in the mile, that eases a lot of worries. Shoutout to everyone who raced today, y'all killed it!

Update: My splits were 64,67,68,62.

State. I warmed up a mile, and got ready to race the mile. I wasn't super nervous, so that was good. I started out, and went straight to the back after the first curve, so I could stay on the inside. The pack was huge and never really split up very much... splits were 66,66,65,66. All with various decimals. Anyway, I hung out in the back the first 2 laps, then surged a lot and passed most of the pack right before starting the third lap, and tried to pick it up from there. The last lap I would've had to run a 62 to go under 4:20, which I am more than capable of, but my kick simply wasn't there today. Like my legs wouldn't go much faster, idk what was up. Oh well, it was a decent time I guess.

Then I did the 800 in the medley, and Dylan got me the baton in first place, so that was dope. I just threw down and won my heat (prelims) and it was a grand ol time. Idk what my split was though... but it felt good.

Got to the RB mile right before it was supposed to start so I'm glad I made it! I was not expecting a super thrilling drinking time, seeing as I haven't had soda in a long while... so we started and drinking was freaking rough. Got the first can down, and took off. Second can I got down, with some major burpage in the process. Third can same story. The last can I couldn't do it, I ended up throwing up most of my root beer and finishing the can after that. Prolly dropped like a 62 on that last lap lol. I was cruising. Next year I want to do a lot better, I can run with the soda in my stomach no problem, I was hauling. But the drinking is what ruined my time. Lol I'll work on that. Shoutout to everyone who ran it, and I guess everyone who came to watch too, it was a good time.

We did the dream maker 2.0 today (we're coming up with a new name, I promise, it's just a new course), and it went well! We started off, and Thomas and Michael were leading, with Austin and I tucked in right behind them. Pace was 5:10 at the beginning. About .5 miles in, we slowed to like a 5:30 and started up the first hill, and I said nope and surged past Thom and Michael. Nobody went with me... I came through the mile at 5:33, and finished at 8:19. I definitely could've gone faster, but it was weird being that far ahead. It was a good time though.

Ragnar leg 2- 6 miles on a slight decline at 3 in the am makes for some fast splits. I passed 47 people and the average pace was 5:20. My splits were 5:24,5:07,5:02,5:30,5:18,5:25. It was a good time. Shoutout to the only lady that told me good job when I passed her.

Ragnar leg 3- it was supposed to only be 3.8 miles but it ended up being 4.4... major downhill the first 3 miles of this one. It really hurt. First mile was 4:57, then it got even more steep so I had to be careful, 5:34 (quads and IT bands were screaming), then 5:12, just kinda hurt amd grinded though that mile. Then it got flat and I completely blew up. 6:28 was the next mile, and the .4 was at 6:46 pace. That flat part was the most painful part of the whole dang Ragnar. It was hot, I as dehydrated, and my legs were completely and utterly destroyed from the previous runs. Average pace on this one was 5:40.

Shoutout to the HJP for putting together this sick team, we took 5th overall, only behind 4 college teams. It was such a ridiculously awesome experience, so shoutout to them. And shoutout to Talon Hull for running Ragnar hill (6 miles up a ski slope) in just under and hour and doing it in the fastest time of this Ragnar, he's a beast.

I decided I wanted to bike somewhere besides the MCT and I wanted to do some hills, so I thought AF canyon would be a good idea. I drove to the base of the canyon and biked up to tibblefork and then back down. It was 15 miles total. Afterwards I stood in the river for 10 minutes to ice my lower legs, I would've sat down but the current was really strong and I was worried about getting washed away lol. When I got home my left achilles/calf tightened up like crazy and it hurt to walk but no worries because I rolled it out and it's golden now. Total time was 1:01:02. I got up to 34.9 mph on the way down, I wish I could've gone faster but I was on the top gear on my bike (super old road bike from 1984) and I couldn't pedal any faster...

50 miles on the bike. 3 hours and 10 minutes in the saddle is a great way to spend your day... I started with Michael, Austin, and Connor, but they turned around about 9 miles into it. I got to 800 north in Orem and decided to go to my cousin's house and say hi, so I biked up a freaking 1000 foot climb (serious, check strava) and stopped by their house. The cars were giving me some really weird looks... most of the ride was alone, and it was actually pretty nice. Shoutout to David for hooking me up with a pair of biking shorts

Alright people, I need some input. What are we going to call this run?

We warmed up, then got going. The first .4-.5 miles were slower than expected, then I threw in a surge and Thomas went with me. We hammered the first hill, then started on the second. Thomas stuck right behind me pretty much the whole time and we finished strong within like half a second of each other so that was pretty sick. It took me freaking forever to get myself together afterwards. I threw up, and was about to fall asleep I swear. I need to get back on top of my salt intake. I was in a bad spot. I'm not gonna put in a race report because I stopped racing halfway through. It was the freedom 10k, and I went out with Connor, Eugene, Thom, the Riding twins, and maybe a couple others. First mile 5:30. That's when I started to realize that today was not my day. I decided to be conservative since I still had 5 miles left, and I let the pack go. I'm glad I did. Second mile, 5:39. After the second mile I gave up all hope of racing this thing because my legs were completely gone, and I ended up stopping a couple times to dry heave and I just had nothing. Splits from mile 3 on were 6:09, 6:49, 9:34, 7:59. My stomach hurt really bad that 5th mile, honestly I'm surprised I didn't just drop out, again, today was not my day. I felt much better last Saturday, maybe that 10 miler spent me lol. Kind of disappointing but I need to keep in mind what I'm capable of and that this race doesn't reflect anything about me as an athlete. Good experience. Shoutout to everyone for killing it and to Guppy for spending the day with me

6 mile distance run today, everyone else did "the Kicker", previously known as the dream maker. I just did distance because I didn't run on Friday or Saturday because my resting heart rate was skyrocketing, so Jamie said to not do anything. Today it was 69, so still a little high, but not as bad. My legs were still a little heavy but not too bad, just kinda playing things by ear. I paced Gan to a 16 second pr so maybe I'll be a professional pacer when I grow up haha. Anyway, shoutout to her for the big pr

I felt really strong and took the lead 800m in and 200m into the third lap my legs just lost most of the energy they had. It was like I hit a wall... Just kinda tried to survive after that. I finished 4th behind Ryan, Connor, and Thomas. Shoutout to Ryan and Connor for coming and doing it with us! Temple to Temple 5k in Provo today. A bunch of people from the team were there so that was sick. Michael and I took it out in 4:49 the first mile, and I tried to hold on but fatigue hit my legs like a bus and I died hard. Very frustrating. I'm going to get my iron checked at 3:00, I'm 99.9999999% sure I'm very low in the iron department... everyone I've talked to that was low in iron has had the same symptoms, so we'll see how things go. Wish me luck.

I finally felt strong today for the first time in like 3 weeks. Shoutout to iron. I was really happy with having them all be under 2, but I wish we would've had more of a pack at the front. 10 pretty eventful miles today! Michael, Thom, Parker, and I started at the park and went up to the MCT, and got off the MCT in highland and came back by way of the spinny park. While running, a biker lady got pretty mad at us because apparently we were on the wrong side of the trail, so here's the exchange that happened;

Biker Lady: You know there's a pedestrian side of the trail right? *Very snarky might I add*

Thom: Good thing we aren't pedestrians

Michael: And good thing we can run as fast as you are on your bike!

She sped off after Michael started getting mad.

Haha it was a good time. Back at the park, while we were doing abs, a lady came up to us and said, "hey do you guys want to try a meditation?" What the heck? So we said sure and she led us over to the bridge that goes over the creek, and she told us to sit down with our legs over the side of the bridge, water flowing away from us. She said "I'm going to be quiet for a minute, and I want you guys to look at the water flowing away from you and imagine all your hardships and all the things that are holding you back from reaching your potential flowing away with this water." So then she was quiet and we did as we were told, then she had us come to the other side of the bridge, so the water was flowing towards us. She said "I'm going to be quiet again, but this time I want you to imagine all the good things you want in life and in running flowing into you, with this water." After she sat there for a little bit, she said "alright I'm going to go now but you guys can stay as long as you want."

What on earth?! Lol it was quite the day. Then we ice bathed and went home.

6 miles today. 1:00 practice sucks. A run is like embarking on a journey (quite possibly life threatening) to the very dungeons of h*ck after bathing in a volcano and setting yourself on fire. Lol then I took an ice bath with the girls, then Parker, Michael, Dylan, and I broke down the dam at the spring and built a new one (which took approximately 2 hours) which raises the water level by about a foot so that was sick. Also I'm super stoked for camp tomorrow. Also shoutout to Connor, Asa, and Josh because they're going to be awesome on their missions and I'm really gonna miss them for the next three years...

First day of xc camp! We went to the capital building in SLC and ran up the canyon right behind it. 5 up, 5 down. We averaged like 7:15 on the way up (felt like death) and about 6 flat on the way down. It was a good run, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow... Then we played some games, ice bathed, and had a grand ol time with the team.

XC camp day 2. We went to deer Creek and ran there, mostly rolling hills on the trail. I was hungry and thirsty before we even started so I put some fruit snacks in my waistband and that was greatly appreciated 5 miles out (shoutout to Mama Heaps for the fruit snacks). I felt pretty tired for most of it, but started feeling good for miles 9 and 10. 6:12 and 5:52 for those. Shoutout to the team for being just plain awesome.

Last day of camp, I was dang tired. I haven't been doing the best with sleep so time to get back on that... So we couldn't do the run we were going to do because of some fires so we went up to park city and ran up there. It was a mostly flat run (2% grade, downhill on the way out, uphill on the way back.) And the first half flew by, and we were taking it super easy because we were all kinda spent. The last 4.5 miles Jamie had us do a progression starting just under 7:00 pace, and decreasing by about 15 second every mile. Seeing as my legs were dead before we even started this run, it was a pain-fest for sure splits of the progression were 6:49,6:35,6:30,6:17, and the last half mile was at 6:10 pace. We were also running into the wind on the way back, and I decided to lead the first couple miles so that was a poor choice on my part. Anyway, I'm not totally bummed because I still got faster every mile, but not quite as much as I wanted to. I had to fight for the splits I hit. It was tough. Good times though, shoutout to the team for being stellar

Mile warm-up, then premeet. Premeet was 2:36. It was pretty painful the whole time, but I had an appointment with the chiropractor for my achilles at 4:10 so I thought I might as well see what I could do. At the appointment the doctor said that I have adhesions between my achilles and the surrounding muscles all the way up my calf, so he scraped a little bit along my achilles and that was excruciating... Super super painful. I'm going to try to race tomorrow, we'll see how I feel. Eventually he's going to scrape my whole calf and hopefully fix it... Ugh I'm not looking forward to that. It should be fine. Anyway, I went to the medical tent and they taped it up real good, and I decided to race anyway, because it felt better in spikes yesterday. First mile was pretty good, but the second mile wasn't as good. It hit me that I made a mistake this week. Every time I'm on the bike I hammer every workout. I need to allow myself to recover. My legs were pretty trashed for the race, hence the slow time (not to mention I'm injured). I'm going to see another physical therapist on Monday to get a second opinion. Wish me luck. Swim workout! 500 warm-up breaststroke, then 5 sets of 25 lungbuster going straight into 75 freestyle, 30 sec rest, 100 kick. Then 500 cooldown. So total distance was 2000m. Good times. Just an update, the problem isn't actually my achilles, it's my posterior tibialis tendon (medial to the achilles) and I have micro tears there that aren't exactly healing like we hope they would. So yeah, it still hurts to walk. 3 cheers for a sucky senior season.

Bikes today... I'm going to be the best highschool triathlete there ever was! Once I can run that is... The workout was 10 min warm-up, then 6 sets of 5 min at 5k effort, 4 min off. 10 min cooldown. 70 min total. Shoutout to the team for doing mile repeats today and to Guppy for breaking the flower to plank with me. She's the best. Also unshoutout to you know who you are... Just cuz

Also Dax (head guard) said I could dive off the blocks if I did 100 in less than a minute, haha I got 1:07. But I don't know how to do flipturns and I started in the water and it was after the workout so I think I could go under a minute given the chance... Lol next time Dax.

It's all healed. First day at SUU! Michael, Chris, and I got to the school at around 11:00, took a tour of the campus, had lunch at a delicious pizza place, drove up to a lookout with coach Limf to see all of Cedar City. It's so beautiful here... And the opportunities for trail runs are awesome. Dinner was at an amazing barbecue place which had free ice cream cones so that was a plus. However, after I went back for 3 cones and was heading for my 4th, the cashier got all mad at me and said it's only one per person... Lol idk how he didn't see me get 3 others... So unshoutout to him I guess. Shoutout to Sage for hosting Michael and I and being a stud.

1.5 mile tempo today to test out my legs, and it went well! I warmed up a mile, and then got started. Jamie told me to go between 5:20 and 5:30 for the first mile and drop it from there. I started on a street that went slightly downhill, and turned around at .75. First mile was 5:20, and the last half was at 5:12 pace. I was happy that I was able to drop the pace a little because it was slightly uphill, but I do wish I could've dropped it more, like sub-5 would've been nice. But I'm not complaining because I did it alone, it was my first real fast thing back, and I didn't feel too bad at all afterwards. Good times. Shoutout to everyone who raced at the Springville invite today, I was there to watch and cheer on my beast of a team for making through a hard week of training.

Good luck on your recovery.

Just remember to ALWAYS do a good warm up to get the blood flowing, and try to avoid any kind of hill, downhill or uphill. You should be okay.

Use Ice before and after every workout.

First race back today! Wow it's been a while... My plan was to just stay calm the first mile and build from there. First mile was 5:05, and it felt pretty calm and controlled. Second mile was 5:26, so I slowed down a little bit, but I was either holding my position or passing people that whole time. Also just trying to stay with Parker. Third mile was 5:31, and I had to fight for that one. With .75 to go Jamie pointed at an Orem kid a little bit ahead of me and said o had to catch him and that made me scared because she sounded pretty darn desperate... I didn't end up catching him but I did all I could. I didn't die super hard but it left a fair amount to be desired. All in all not a bad first race back at all... I'm excited for state and Nike. Also, the team got third so we're headed to state!!! Huge shoutout to Guppy for getting 2nd overall and the girls team for also getting third and making it to state!

Good things:

1-Controlled first mile. Fast but not too fast.

2-2 seconds away my region time from last year. Not bad for not running for 2 months.

3-I fought every time I hurt. No giving up happened here.

Thing to work on- work hard to hold pace the last mile

Whistle hills up airport today... It was interesting. I had breakfast at ISU and drove back home and barely made it in time for practice. The workout was 3 sets of whistle hills. First 2 sets at 15sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, and the last set at 30,35,40. I was able to stay towards the middle front of the pack up until the second to last rep. I had been slowly starting to feel more and more lightheaded and not able to see super well, but I just kind of brushed it off and pushed through. While we were jogging back down the hill to do our last rep I was forced against my will to the side of the road where I proceeded to throw up some of my breakfast (I hadn't had lunch and breakfast was 4.5 hrs earlier so I thought it'd be fine...). After I was done, I did the last rep on my own, and kneeled down on the road at the top because there was no was I was going to stand. I again threw up, 4 more times as I slowly made my way down the hill, to be exact. Guppy was kind enough to let me go to her house which was close and she and her mom set me up with an ice pack for my head, Gatorade, and an electrolyte pill. 15ish minutes later I was able to stand and I felt a little better. Probably the electrolytes and hydration. I'm going to start drinking salt drinks again to keep those sodium levels normal. Shoutout to Guppy, Momma Struthers, and everyone who did the workout. Good times.

I tried to stay pretty conservative the first mile, it was 5:12. From there I just started consistently passing people who went out too fast. Second mile was 5:20. The last mile I continued to pass people and move up in place. The split wasn't quite what I wanted, 5:33, but I passed 6 more guys in the last 400m and was mostly passing people the whole time. Pretty happy with it. Obviously the time isn't where I want to be, but I'm grateful I can run and push myself. Oh the joy of death. It bekons like your awkward aunt who you look forward to seeing but once you visit you have had your fill for a while. Until those visits start to grow on you and you start to look forward to the tangible awkwardness and uncomfortable atmosphere conjured by never-ending small talk. Oh, did I say death? I meant speed. Particularly 1000 repeats followed by fast 400's. What a coincidence, that's what we did today! Lol the workout was 5 1000's at goal pace for NXR (just under 5) and 3 400's, the first one being at mile pace and dropping 2 seconds every lap. Rest was 3 min between teh 1000's and 2 min between the 400's. I decided to just put myself out there and run with Michael and see what I could do since this was my first speed workout with the team since summer. My splits were 3:06,3:03,3:08,3:10,3:09,68,68,65. The first two I hung with Mike pretty good but from then on I dropped off a bit. I was hurting. Nevertheless I pushed through! From there I was able to stick with Chuck for the most part. He's a good guy. My apologies to him. He knows why lol. I kept right on pace for the 1000's, except the 4th one was 5:03 pace... big whoop. When the 400's came I was about ready to collapse and die on the track. Idk how I did those. I'm glad I was able to drop time the last one, that was tough. Shoutout to the team because I love them and I'm pumped for NXR.

Pre-footlocker today. I was dead tired from Sadie's last night so that was definitely a struggle. I had a good start, not too fast, but somehow I ended up in the lead pack next to Casey and McKay. That was exciting. At least for the first half mile 😂. My splits were 5:07, 5:24, then my watch died. I averaged 5:13 so I closed faster so that was great. I split roughly a 15:40 3-mile and 16:10 5k. Ish. So definitely pr'd for both of those and an improvement from state. Which is crazy because we had a very difficult speed workout a few days ago and I was super duper tired and it was freezing. Very happy with it, especially since I got a medal!

Speed today... I didn't survive the workout. Warmed up .63, then got started. The workout was 200, 400, 800, 1600, 800, 400, 200. The 200s were 800 pace, the 400s were mile pace, the 800s were 2-mile pace, and the mile was 5k pace. My splits were 26,65,(this is where it gets ugly) 2:32, 5:37, and Jamie told me to stop. I had a little asthma attack. My breathing had been abnormally labored the whole time. It got really bad in the 800 and I was having trouble breathing period. Jamie told me to adjust the mile accordingly, and that 5:37 was labored... So she told me to drop. I made my way to the locker room to take my inhaler. Shoutout to everyone who was able to actually complete the workout. Which is everyone.

I actually had a good workout today so that was a plus. We warmed up to the gully and did a ladder workout on the MCT up the side closest to smiths. The workout was 3x(100m,200m,300m) with a quarter mile jog in between sets. Within the set the rest was just jogging back down. I was able to push it with Michael the whole workout so that was awesome. My lungs didn't totally give out on me, but they did hurt and close up a little bit during the cooldown so we kept that slow. I'm staying vigilant with those inhalers. Shoutout to Guppy for supplying me with extra elecrolytes today, that made all the difference.

Warmed up a mile, then got going! My plan was to start at 6:00 and drop 10 seconds every mile depending on how I was feeling. My splits were 5:50, 5:43, 5:40, 6:01, 6:19, 5:57, and the last .2 was at 5:03 pace. That 5th mile was a little rough, it's a gradual uphill the whole mile. I'm still getting back on top of sodium intake and hydration, as well as reevaluating my daily nutrition, or lack thereof. I didn't feel quite as dead today but the legs were definitely still a little heavy. Cool down 1 mile.

Footlocker. I was in the elite race on the back line so I had a little bit of a disadvantage at the start, but that's alright. My splits were 5:09, 5:57, 5:56. Kind of the same situation as what happened at Nike. My legs just wouldn't move. I'm pretty sure it's the lack of base that was getting to me from a season of injury. Anyway, went to the practice, ran on my own, and met up with them back at LP to lift. It was grand because I was actually able to do the pullups without breaking up the sets into baby sets. Shoutout to LP for letting me use their weight room

Run with the girls and Dallin, I wasn't feeling too good. 5 strides were mixed in there and it felt alright to go faster

4.5 easy on my own, I didn't feel very good at all. Probably because I had a grand total of 800 calories yesterday... I don't have much of an appetite but I gotta eat. Eating is important. Reason being, you need food. You need food because eating is important. Aaannnnddddd eating is important beceause your lil mitochondria in your lil cells need a lil energy to move your lil legs and beat your lil heart and idk what the heck I'm even saying anymore so have a good day lol

4.5 easy, and I actually felt decent for once since coming back, no more sickness for me! 6:47 avg pace. Massage afterwards, the massage guy found a real tight spot in my hamstring so that was glorious

6 miles around old Lehi today, starting at the legacy center. 6:52 ap, the last three miles were faster than planned bc of lifting yesterday but eh I felt like going. Finished with 30 min on the bike to make 70 min total. Happy new year everyone!
