Warmed up 1.5 miles, did some strides, then started the race.

Going in to this weekend I wanted to make sure I stuck with Thomas and the other guys as long as freaking possible. I was able to do so for the first two miles.

My first mile was around a 5:07ish, and pretty much our whole team was together. It was a really cool thing, and I felt good! The second mile was in the teens, bringing my 2-mile split to under 10:30 (fun fact, that's over 30 sec faster than I ran at grass relays, which I sucked at), which also felt solid considering I was able to stay up with the guys. The third mile, however, was rough. I lost contact with Thomas and Austin, but held my position. My last mile was around a whopping 5:50. That's definitely something to work on. Despite the unfortunate third mile, I finished with a time of 16:27, which is a 27 second PR for the 5k, so I'm pretty happy with that.

As for the team, we took third after Davis and Desert Hills. Our 1-5 spread was 41 seconds, going Connor, Ryan, Austin, Thomas, me, and Michael and Kobe were 6th and 7th.

I'm super excited to see how the rest of the season goes, and I'm very grateful for the breakthrough I had today.
