I ran alone today so I could get to work on time. Legs felt like crap and I couldn't really breath. HR never went under 160 even though I wasn't going very fast. I paused to lay in the grass halfway through, that was nice. Definitely not the best day.

The workout today didn't really work out. ;) it was 5x500m @ goal 800 pace. Aka painfest. We were supposed to record our 400 splits. 58, 65, then I finished on the bike because the cold air was not making my lungs happy. Not a very good day but that's alright. I'll keep fighting.

Recovery in immigration canyon. Excited for tomorrow, everyone is required to do a 4x400m and either the 800 or mile. I'm doing the mile so that should be fun.

Whistle hills today, Jamie said they would last anywhere from 10-30 seconds and we would do between 1 and 20 of them. Definitely braced myself for 20 and that helped a lot. Finally a workout I can be proud of, I was able to focus on the task at hand (because I didn't know when it was going to end lol) so I was able to have the right mindset. Definitely going to work more on that. We ended up doing 10 of them

What. A. Day. I went to the school at 7 to warm up on the bikes and do the workout on my own because I had to be at a 5k in Provo at 9. The workout was 20x400m. First 5 at 5k pace, second 5 at 2-mile pace, third 5 at mile pace, and last 5 at whatever you have left. Splits were 76,76,76,74,78,72,71,72,72,72,67,69,69,69,69,68,68,70,69,67. Very difficult on my own and the last couple sets weren't near as good as they were last year. I was dying. Anyway, I went to the 5k and just did it at a super easy pace as a cooldown. Halfway through I had to stop and walk because my left chest, shoulder, and arm was aching and going numb.

Update on Saturday: I had a heart attack during that 5k, that's why my heart was hurting and my arm went numb. I should've gone to the ER (doctor got mad about that today) but I just walked it off and went to work, where I felt like I got hit by a train the rest of the day. I'm getting some tests done and going to the hospital on Thursday to figure out what's going on. On the bright side, I now have an answer as to why I've been doing not so good lately. More to come on Thursday.

Speed today, and I actually am feeling much better than I have been so that's a win. The workout was 2x400m, 3x200, 4x100m, all at 800 pace. Splits were 59,59,28,31,30,14, then I lost my lunch and couldn't breathe so I pulled out. BUT everything I did my legs responded well to, unlike the last 23483945738476 workouts.

Warmed up, then raced the 800. Usually I'm pretty conservative right off the line, but it was cramped so I figured I should get out as hard as possible. I still got elbowed and sucked into the pack, where we went out waayyy too slow. On the back stretch I saw an opening and moved out to lane 4 and surged to the front, and hauled for the next 200, even though my first lap was still only a 60-61. Chris then passed me and my legs/lungs/body started to catch up to me. I'm making some progress, but it's slow. I can honestly say I gave everything I had so I'm proud of it but I'm hungry for faster times. It's a long road back.

Speed today! I did it during 4th so I could get to my sports massaage appointment on time... so that was kinda lame. Speed on your own is the worst. Anyway, the workout was 9 reps @ 800 pace. 300's until you misspace by at least 2 sec, the shift down to 200's until the same thing, and then shift to 100's. 1 min rest in between everything (ISH, it was hard to get to the 200 in that time lol). I did 3 300's and 6 200's. Splits were 48,47,50,34,33,33,33,32,31. We added 2 seconds for the wind, so I was going for 46's and 31's. The wind was crazy. Breathing got bad but I was able to finish this one strong-ish so that's definitely some more improvement.
